{"id":4385,"date":"2023-03-04T13:12:06","date_gmt":"2023-03-04T13:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ozone.me.uk\/?p=4385"},"modified":"2023-03-04T13:12:28","modified_gmt":"2023-03-04T13:12:28","slug":"chili-con-carne","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ozone.me.uk\/?p=4385","title":{"rendered":"Chili con carne"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ozone.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/chili11.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4376 \" src=\"https:\/\/ozone.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/chili11-225x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"297\" height=\"396\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ozone.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/chili11-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/ozone.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/chili11-768x1024.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/ozone.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/chili11-1152x1536.jpeg 1152w, https:\/\/ozone.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/chili11.jpeg 1512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 297px) 100vw, 297px\" \/><\/a>I made a large quantity of Chili con carne so that Noe could have some to return to University in Bristol&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It is very easy to make.<\/p>\n<p>Slow cook in the oven to let all the spices and flavours spread through the dish.<\/p>\n<p>Definitely a comfort dish.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients (this is for a large quantity and can be halved if you do not want to eat some the whole of the following week&#8230;):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>750g of Minced Beef<\/li>\n<li>2 cans of chopped tomatoes<\/li>\n<li>2 cans of red kidney beans<\/li>\n<li>2 onions<\/li>\n<li>4 carrots<\/li>\n<li>1 celery stalk<\/li>\n<li>2 or 3 garlic<\/li>\n<li>A sachet of ready mix spices (why make it complicated? )<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to make:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I use my Le Creuset cast iron casserole for this<\/li>\n<li>Brown the meat in batches if necessary<\/li>\n<li>Chop carrots, Celeri and onions.<\/li>\n<li>Depending on how much fat has been rendered from the meat, discard or keep some for roasting the vegetables.<\/li>\n<li>Start with carrots and celery; add the garlic after a few minutes.<\/li>\n<li>As the vegetables are cooking, they will lift the &#8220;suc&#8221; from the bottom of the casserole.<\/li>\n<li>Put the meat back into the casserole and add the spice mix.<\/li>\n<li>Mix well and add a bit of water to prevent the whole mixture from sticking to the bottom of the casserole.<\/li>\n<li>Put the whole casserole in the oven at 120 degrees for 5 hours&#8230;.or until dinner&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Serve with sour cream and some cheese on top. Chargrill the cheese with a blow torch and add a few jalapenos.
